En general, hay una clara tendencia a lo natural, por eso hemos querido recopilar algunas ideas para tener un hogar con menos toxicidad, más limpio y por consiguiente más saludable.
El polvo son pequeñas partículas compuestas de ácaros, polen, células muertas de la piel, moho, pelos, pesticidas, ambientadores… Seas o no alérgico, te conviene que tu casa esté lo más libre posible de él. Para conseguirlo, puedes poner plantas de interior, ya que son un excelente recurso para todo hogar, pues además de servir como decoración, puedes escoger plantas que se adecuen a tus necesidades pues hay especies que pueden reducir la humedad y limpiar el aire.
Sustituye tus cazuelas y sartenes de aluminio con teflón o que contengan níquel por otras de hierro colado, de cerámica o de acero inoxidable sin níquel. Rechaza los cacharros de cobre y compra recipientes para el horno y tuppers de cristal. Usa siempre tablas de madera, nunca de plástico o de bambú barato. Tu salud te lo agradecerá porque ninguno de estos componentes tóxicos pasará a tu comida.
Puedes hacer la compra con bolsas de tela, comprar las legumbres y frutos secos a granel, sustituir el cristal por el plástico siempre que puedas, deshacerte de las bolsas de plástico con autocierre y del papel transparente para cubrir los alimentos. En lugar de eso, tápalos con una tela. En general, trapos en lugar de papel y cristal y tarros en lugar de bolsas. Incluso si debes hacer un picnic o la fiesta de cumpleaños de tus hijos, elige vajillas de cartón o bambú.
Es verdad que las nuevas bombillas ecológicas son mejores para el Medio Ambiente, pero peores para tu salud porque contienen mercurio, uno de los elementos más tóxicos que existen. Las viejas bombillas incandescentes son más saludables, seguidas de las LED.
Es una de las estancias más importante de la casa porque en ella pasamos bastantes horas, es un nuestro espacio para dormir, descansar y regenerar, así que de vital importancia para nuestra salud. Consejos: cómprate una cama de madera con tintes y ceras naturales, elige colchones de látex o lana, los menos tóxicos, utiliza ropa de cama de fibras naturales sin tintes. El algodón orgánico es ideal, tu sueño te lo agradecerá. Y la seda para mantener la hidratación de tu piel y de tu cabello. Las sábanas de planchado fácil contienen formaldehído, evítalas. Y para los niños, en lugares donde hay muchos mosquitos, rescata las mosquiteros en lugar de tener que rociarles con repelentes, por muy naturales que sean.
Hay multes cambios que puedes hacer en tu baño para reducir el nivel de toxicidad al mínimo posible. Por ejemplo puedes sustituir las cortinas de la bañera de plástico, llenas de PVC, por otras de poliéster, que no contienen ftalatos o mamparas de cristal. Puedes cambiar tus cepillos de dientes, responsables del 1% de la contaminación de nuestras aguas, por otros con mango de madera. Poner un filtro de agua en la ducha y el lavabo para evitar cloro, las personas con dermatitis atópica apreciaran el cambio, ya que su piel lo agradecerá. En general, el uso de jabones naturales o incluso, de jabones sólidos para evitar el uso de plástico.
Las velas sirven para decorar, para crear un ambiente determinado en el hogar y junto con los ambientadores dotar de un aroma único a tu hogar, pero ten en cuenta que algunas velas están fabricadas con parafinas extraídas del petróleo y muchas de sus mechas, especialmente las baratas, pueden contener plomo. Así que puedes optar por velas de cera de abeja o de soja, si las quieres veganas. Y hay ambientadores naturales hechos a base de aceites esenciales que además de aromatizar tu hogar puedes conseguir más beneficios como por ejemplo mayor relajación con el aroma a lavanda y romero.
